Security Council urged to assume its responsibilities and implement its decisions to halt Zionist aggression in Ghaza

Algeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amar Bendjama, affirmed in New York that the Security Council must fully assume its responsibilities and ensure the implementation of its decisions to put an end to the bloody Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that failure to adopt this approach would result in the loss of any remaining credibility for this UN body.

In his address on Thursday before the international Security Council, during an emergency meeting on Palestine requested by Algeria, Mr. Bendjama stressed that the Security Council must speak with "clarity and firmness" and ensure the enforcement of all its decisions to stop the massacres committed by the Zionist entity against Palestinian civilians. Otherwise, he warned, this would lead to the erosion of any remaining credibility of this UN organ.

The Algerian diplomat drew attention to the unbearable suffering of Palestinians in Gaza due to the genocidal war waged by the Zionist entity, which has not only executed civilians but also targeted humanitarian workers, medical personnel, journalists, and children.

He reported that the toll of the aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, includes 400 deaths among humanitarian workers, 209 journalists, and 1,060 healthcare workers, in addition to the killing of 17,000 children. "These people deserve justice," he underscored.

"Murder has become a daily routine for the people of Gaza, in full view of the international community, which watches this genocide unfold live in absolute silence," he lamented.

The same official also highlighted that the occupier has prevented humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip for over a month, "as if the massacres were not enough." He added, "What is happening in Gaza is absolute horror, and this criminal behavior must not go unanswered."

In this regard, he specified that UN Resolution 2735 must be fully implemented without delay to save lives and immediately end the Zionist aggression.

Regarding the situation in the occupied West Bank, the Algerian diplomat reported "an increase in figures related to destruction, annexation, arrests, forced displacements, and assassinations perpetrated by the Zionist occupier" in an attempt to fully control Palestinian territories.

He noted that the policy of colonization continues unabated, specifying that over the past year alone, the occupier has seized 46 square kilometers of land in the West Bank, while Zionist officials persist in their attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, defying its established historical and legal status.

Thus, Mr. Bendjama affirmed that Algeria "condemns in the strongest terms" all these acts, adding: "History has taught us that no force can uproot a people from their land. The Palestinian people will not be displaced; they will remain on their land, and with the support of all those who love freedom and peace, they will establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital."
