Albares has not understood subtlety of President Tebboune’s remarks, observers say

Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has not understood the subtlety of the remarks made by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, observers told APS.

“Spain’s FM, José Manuel Albares, has not understood the subtlety of the remarks made by President Tebboune when he referred to the quarrel between the two countries, pointing to the adventurism of Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, who changed abruptly the official position on the sensitive issue of Western Sahara,” the observers recalled.

This is not the first time that Spain "plays a dangerous regarding the conflict in Western Sahara," they said, stressing that "as administering power, it has just betrayed, for the second time, Western Sahara like in 1975 by trampling on the United Nations (UN) resolutions.

"The President of the Republic, who has always stressed that Algeria was not involved in the conflict in Western Sahara, has clarified the position of Algeria vis-à-vis Spain by reaffirming the close ties between the two countries.

However, he regretted the new position of the PM that can in no way be that of the Spanish people, let alone that of King Felipe VI, who has never been singled out by the Algerian president,” said the observers.
