The President of the Republic chairs a meeting of the Council of Ministers

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired, this Sunday,a Council of Ministers meeting focused on draft laws and presentations concerning civil status, animal health protection, and the National Autism Plan, according to a statement from the Council of Ministers.

After the Prime Minister’s overview of government activities over the past two weeks and ministers’ discussions on the draft laws and presentations, President Tebboune issued the following instructions:

At the meeting’s outset, he urged the government to intensify field efforts with greater rigor to address citizens’ real concerns without media fanfare, emphasizing that major social issues must be handled in direct coordination with the Prime Minister.

Regarding youth, particularly those engaged in micro-importation, the President ordered their full and final regularization by integrating them into the formal foreign trade system, enabling them to benefit from self-entrepreneur laws.

He mandated granting them economic agent status to access social and commercial benefits, replacing their current illegal status, which has led to goods seizures and social instability due to loss of modest capital.

He instructed the Prime Minister to urgently form a committee to define mechanisms for these youths’ activities, ensuring they meet basic market needs in limited quantities. This committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, will list authorized import products to ensure sustainable, legally compliant activity.

The President thanked the Minister of Industry and sector officials for significant progress in local sugar production, with new units operational. He ordered measures, possibly including a National Sugar Office, to regulate production, meet domestic demand, and plan exports based on precise statistics to positively impact the Central Bank.
