The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense presented the Military Football Cup trophy to the captain of the 1st Military Region team, Imad Benaïssa, at the end of the 2-1 final victory over his counterpart from the 4th Military Region, on Thursday at the Military Sports Team Training Center (CREPESM) in Ben Aknoun (Algiers). Abdelmadjid Tebboune also awarded medals of honour to the players and technical staff of the two finalist teams, as well as honouring the match referees and signing footballs for each of them. The 1st Military Region team won the Military Football Cup for the 11th time in its history. Earlier, the President of the Republic arrived at CREPESM, where he was welcomed by General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army ( PNA). After the playing of the national anthem, the President of the Republic was honored by the various military forces. The Head of State greeted the Army General, the Commander of the Republican Guard, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, the Commanders of the Armed Forces and the National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the 1st Military Region, the Head of the Employment-Preparation Department of the army General Staff, and the Head of the Military Sports Service. In the Salon d'Honneur of the Military Sports Complex, and in the presence of members of the government, advisors to the Presidency of the Republic, as well as heads of departments, the Army Comptroller General, directors and heads of services of the Ministry of National Defense and the ANP General Staff, the President of the Republic received “an exhaustive presentation on military sports, given by the General, Head of the Military Sports Service of the Employment-Preparation Department of the ANP General Staff”. Those present then watched a documentary film produced by the Information and Communication Department on “military sports facilities, such as the training and preparation center for military sports teams, the brilliant results achieved by military athletes who have distinguished themselves this sporting season, Algeria's preparations for hosting international sporting events in the near future, and the participation of the national military team in the African Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria”.
