Located in the locality of Belgaïd, under the municipality of Bir El Djir (east of Oran), the new Olympic complex of Oran, with an area of 105 hectares, includes several sports facilities including a soccer stadium which is the main structure of the site.
The stadium, with a capacity of 40,143 seats, is covered with hybrid turf (natural grass reinforced with synthetic fibers), an air-fiber technology that strengthens the strength and resistance of the grass. It meets international standards and will be able to host national and international competitions of the highest level. It is also equipped with a modern athletics track, manufactured in Switzerland and approved by the International Athletics Federation.
In addition to the soccer stadium, a number of modern sports facilities have been built: an athletics stadium with 4,200 seats, a sports hall with a capacity of 6,000 seats that can be extended to 7,000, three stainless steel pools (a first in Africa), two of which are Olympic and a third semi-Olympic, as well as an educational training center with a capacity of 150 seats. The complex will also have two additional replica fields. A nursery for turf, a first in the continent, is being built. It allows to recover the lawn in one week with the technique of moving and replanting the grass.
The sports complex in question is equipped with a camera surveillance system and electronic gates. The evacuation time of the public is seven minutes. The stadium of Oran is served by the RN 11, between the localities of Sidi El-Bachir and Belgaïd, in the daira of Bir El Djir, by the station of Oran and by the international airport of Oran Ahmed-Benbella.
