Algeria welcomes truce reached by parties in conflict in Yemen

Algeria welcomed on Saturday the truce reached by the parties in conflict in Yemen, hoping that this initiative would be an "important step" towards reaching a lasting agreement that would guarantee a comprehensive settlement of the crisis in that country, indicated a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community abroad.

"Further to the communiqué of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, announcing a two (2) month truce in that country from the beginning of the month of Ramadhan, Algeria welcomes this initiative and hopes that it will be an important step towards reaching a lasting agreement that will guarantee a global settlement of the crisis in Yemen, a sister country," the ministry said.

"Welcoming this initiative once again, Algeria assures its support for all efforts and initiatives aimed at finding a political solution, in particular the consultations currently hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanisms and the conclusions of the the inclusive national dialogue.
